Guess what Rustom will reveal next

- Ricky Lo -
Curtain-raisers:

• Lipa Mayor Vilma Santos and husband Sen. Ralph Recto were chosen by the Archdiocesan Chancery of Lipa to be with the official entourage that will accompany newly-ordained Cardinal G.B. Rosales to Rome when he receives his "red cap" on March 24.

Oops! The rent for the stall at Ruffa Gutierrez’s Celebrity Bazaar on March 18 at Market Market (Fort Bonifacio) is P5,000 and not P3,000 as Funfare mentioned yesterday. The bazaar includes a tiangge and a free show featuring stars donating their services to the event’s beneficiary, the landslide victims in Southern Leyte. Admission is P300 each. (For inquiries, call Jay Bautista at 0920-9236280 or Liza at 727-2536.)

After his stunning revelation about his sexual preference two weeks ago on Pinoy Big Brother Celebrity Edition, Rustom Padilla is set to reveal something even "more shocking" before the show ends on April 1 (which happens to be April Fool’s Day).

His first revelation – you know, "I am gay!" – drew all sorts of reactions, most of which praising Rustom for being brutally frank, totally honest (even if, many people said, "in a delayed manner") and straight-forward, even spawning double-meaning jokes such as, "Mabuti pa si Rustom nagsasabi ng totoo."

Lest Funfare preempts PBB, I won’t tell you just yet what Rustom’s second revelation will be (presumably again to fellow housemate Keanna Reeves, his "mother confessor"), except to give you three guesses, namely...

1. Rustom will make public the list of guys he has been intimate with,

2. Rustom will explain why he and ex-wife Carmina Villarroel didn’t have a child and,

3. Rustom will break the mystery surrounding his health (something many people have been speculating about).

Is the "suspense" killing you?

Stay tuned.
Lani not performing in Sergio Mendes show
Is Lani Misalucha taking a break from her hectic schedule in the US and coming home to perform in Sergio Mendes’ concert at the Araneta Coliseum on March 18?

The posters and banners do include Lani’s name in the billing but so sorry, Lani is not coming. (Lani performed with Mendes on his last show here a few years ago at Aliw Theater.)

It was a case of miscommunication, according to Ronnie Henares, Lani’s manager, who said that Lani does plan to have a (solo) concert here but it will be sometime in May yet when she comes home after a successful stint in Las Vegas with the SOS (Society of Seven).

"The marketing man of Araneta Coliseum had a talk with one of the prospective producers of Lani’s homecoming concert," explained Ronnie. "The producer might have mentioned Lani as possible performer in Mendes’ show. Although there were no negotiations, the marketing man must have presumed that it was all right to include Lani’s name in the posters and banners. Actually, Lani has a show in San Diego, California, on the day of Mendes’ show."

All’s well that ends well.

"I have to make this clarification because people might expect Lani to be on Mendes’ show," added Ronnie. "The marketing man understood the situation and decided to remove Lani’s name and picture from the posters and banners."
Sining Maku Hari a ‘must-see’ at Kimura Vale
Bobby Valle, owner-manager of the Kimura Vale Entertainment Center, invited his journalist-friends to watch a Filipiniana revue called Sining Maku Hari which performs nightly at the Center’s Maku Hari Restaurant & Bar.

Our "verdict": It’s a "must-see."

The revue consists of Filipino folk dances performed with beauty and grace by a dozen dancers coming mostly from Mindanao (where Bobby hails) and trained by the Center’s resident choreographer.

The dancers proved quite a delight not only with their graceful bodies but also with their colorful costumes.

The numbers include Kappa Malongmalong; Sa Bayan Kong Sinilangan; a medley of Binasuan, Maglalatik or Magbabao and Binuyogan; a medley of Polka sa Nayon, Carinosa, Jotabal, Pantomina and Paso Doble; and a medley of Itik-Itik, Sayaw Ed Tapew ng Bangko and Tinikling (Bisaya). The intermission numbers are Dahil Sa Isang Bulaklak (accompanied by a couple of dancers) and Waray-Waray (an impersonator lipsynching the famous Eartha Kitt song).

Bobby said that the Sining Maku Hari is a hit among tourists (mostly Japanese and Koreans). You’ll love it, too, I’m sure!

(The Kimura Vale Entertainment Center is located at 1971 Leon Guinto St., Malate, Manila. For inquiries about booking, call 536-6868 or 536-0123.)
