He says, she says

DIRECT LINE - Boy Abunda -
In an interview with another newspaper, Dino Guevarra claimed that his wife, Kim de los Santos, has not moved on yet. He saw her body language on TV, according to him. I think he was referring to the interview I had with Kim in San Francisco when ASAP 05 and The Buzz went to the States for the Kapamilya Caravan. Dino also claimed that he and his son Ethan had an easier time adjusting to the separation. He also said that Kim was bitter and it is easier for men to move on than women after separation. And Dino said that it would be easier and less costly for Kim to file for divorce in the US as she is a US citizen.

In a phone interview, Kim laughed off Dino’s comments. She said she has moved on. As a matter of fact, she is seeing a Filipino-Italian-Portuguese young man. She is happy. She is in school taking up Nursing and is working in a catering business. Life is not easy in the States. This Kim knows. But she’s happier. She and her dad work in the same building. Once in a while, she enjoys the famous New York life with friends. God knows how much this girl deserves to be happy.

He says, she says. This is always the case in matters of separation. Life is fascinating. God is the ultimate judge. During my interview with Kim, I was a few feet away from her and I heard her giggling like a little girl – happy and free. I felt it and I believed it. It’s hard to lie about one’s feelings up-close. There’s a part of the eye that gives it away. Kim’s eyes were sparkling.

On the other hand, when Dino saw Kim’s body language and concluded that she hasn’t moved on, he may also have been right. After all, a large part of that moving on is he, and he probably saw himself somewhere in that moment I had with Kim.

But one thing is for sure. Dino and Kim must have closure – perhaps in God’s time. Then moving on can begin for both of them.
Hotlegs’ Funk-A-Delic
The Hotlegs is producing another exciting dance performance, this time at Club Mwah entitled Funk-a-delic. As the title suggests, it will be hip, edgy, full of energy, an eye candy-feast and absolutely fun. It combines great music, great dancing and a choreography of international standards, not to mention its best looking dancers.

For a full-two hours, Funk-a-delic promises to bring the audiences to another world. It is a follow-up to the highly-successful dance concert Hotlegs… In The Flesh staged at Onstage Theater in 2002. Funk-a-delic is directed by Floy Quintos, lighting by John Batalla, choreography by Charles Thompson, Nancy Crowe and Christine Blando.

The Hotlegs is the country’s premier jazz dance company as it has been around for 23 years. It has established the industry’s standards for commercial dancing on the concert stage, TV, film, MTVs and many other live performances.

Founded in 1982, the group takes pride in discovering famous personalities like Douglas Nierras, Gina Valenciano-Martinez, Sandy Hontiveros and Christine Blando, now its managing and artistic director.

The Hotlegs today is a dance company consisting of 30 dancers and five choreographers.

Funk-a-delic at Club Mwah is slated on all Wednesdays starting tonight until Oct 19. Tickets at P500 (inclusive of one drink and free valet parking) are available at Club Mwah (tel. nos. 539-7943/532-2826). For details, call Joie Tinsay at 0917-5371101, Bo Vicencio at 0920-9218766 and Gel Zabala at 374-3741.
Jed Madela Joins ASAP 05
Jed Madela, grand champion in the recently concluded World Championships of Performing Arts which was held in Hollywood, is the newest addition to ASAP 05. Jed competed with 4,000 contestants from 51 countries winning the title, Grand Champion of the World.

Jed bested all the world champions from different categories – dance, vocals, acting, modeling and instrumentals. He swept all the gold medals in all six categories he participated in – Male Division Pop Category, Broadway, Gospel, Original, Pop Duet and Broadway Duet.

Winning international contests is not new to Jed. He was a Silver Prize winner in the International Voice of Asia Song Festival held at Kazakhstan. In the same contest, he was awarded the Grand Champion - People’s Choice Trophy for getting the highest votes in the Internet Poll Survey sent by the 32 countries that joined the event.

Jed’s latest album from Universal Records entitled, Songs Rediscovered, is still in the best-seller’s list. Among the songs in the album are Elton John’s Your Song, William Brothers’ Can’t Cry Hard Enough, Rick Price’s Heaven Knows, and the chart busters, For the First Time, Changes in My Life and More Than You’ll Ever Know.
