Another chance for Baron Geisler

DIRECT LINE - Boy Abunda -
Baron Geisler is one of the best actors of his generation – intense, honest, risqué, and generous. "He gives back," says a veteran actress when asked to describe Baron as an actor.

I’m looking forward to watching him in ABS-CBN’s new soap, Vietnam Rose that stars the brilliant Maricel Soriano.

This is such refreshing news not only for Baron’s fans but for his family as well, who stood by him in his most difficult times – which we hope are truly over. He’s been through hell and back. Baron, at a very young age, became an alcoholic. He messed up with his life and work. It started when his father passed away. It was a loss the young Baron could not handle. He started drinking alcohol to escape from the pain and confusion. In the beginning, he was drinking moderately until he didn’t notice that he was already consuming a bottle of tequila. He got into fights and embarrassing situations. He looked old and awful inside and out. Baron needed help. He was lonely and in pain.

And he did get help, professional help. He started to deal with his problems head-on. He interacted with people with similar stories. It was difficult to drive away the demons of alcohol. But people helped Baron. People loved Baron. And realizing this, he started to fight for himself. He went through rehabilitation and sought the help of a psychiatrist.

One of the things people should understand is that there’s nothing wrong with seeing a shrink. One doesn’t have to be insane to go to one. Some are physically ill. Others have psychological and emotional problems – therefore you go to a doctor who specializes in emotions and psychology.

Today, Baron says he’s not perfect. But he is well. He’s looking good and healthy. His smile is exuberant and he talks about his past honestly – not trying to hide the pain anymore – a sign that he has dealt with it. He talks about the future with the excitement of a victorious gladiator.

Baron is into boxing right now. This is perhaps where he releases all the angst that he has. Some say it truly helps. The last time I saw him was at the FAP Awards where he looked dapper in an Avel Bacudio outfit. He looked every inch a moviestar ready to do his first starring role.

It’s not a perfect world either, Baron. We stumble many times along the way. But it’s in our power to stand up after each fall – that makes the difference.

All the best, Baron!
Hot Pink Lingerie
Hot Pink Lingerie stayed true to its promise to be the biggest threat to international lingerie brand Victoria’s Secret!

After turning a year old early this month, Hot Pink owners Carlo Garcia (son of former ABS-CBN president, the brilliant and lovable Freddie Garcia, who we sorely miss) and his lovely wife Kaye happily announced that Hot Pink Lingerie will soon be available in the Ladies Sections of all Rustan’s outlets. "We will be consignors in all Rustan’s Department Stores. Also, we will be opening an outlet in the Rustan’s tower (in Edsa Shangri-La) soon," Carlo beams with pride.

Hot Pink Lingerie is a 100 percent Filipino-owned store. Kaye in fact, designs Hot Pink’s collection, made from imported materials but manufactured locally.

"Every woman wants to look good, even in bed. This is why Victoria’s Secret became such a huge hit worldwide. This inspired me and my husband Carlo to come up with our own collection of top-of-the-line lingerie that at par with the best in the world," shares Kaye.

Go check out Hot Pink Lingerie at the second floor of the Independent Lifestyle Section of the Powerplant Mall, Rockwell and soon at all Rustan’s Department Stores.
