Showbiz is still in her heart
February 20, 2005 | 12:00am
She was cast as Aida in the popular late 70s tearjerker Flordeluna. Then, she gave up show business to concentrate on her studies. It was a sacrifice, since all she ever wanted was to act.
Rosanna Jover had accomplished a lot since she "temporarily" left show business. She obtained a Dentistry degree from the Centro Escolar University in 1990, and had been a practicing dentist for the last 14 years. She is married to Dr. Raymond Mallari, a physician, and bore a son (Luis). Over the years, Rosanna built a client base made up mostly of politicians and socialites, but still kept a low profile.
It could be aptly said that Dr. Rosanna is a celebrity favorite. Aside from broadcast journalist Rhea Santos, she services showbiz personalities and commercial models, from children to teens, sometimes even company bigwigs. Since her clinic is very accessible right at the hub of Makatis commercial district even agency heads send over their commercial models before or even during the actual shooting of the commercials for her to do "wonders" to their teeth." She must be doing a good job since her clients keep coming back, averaging about eight patients a day.
Rosannas clinic speaks for itself in terms of elegance and comfort. One would also notice that in the receiving/waiting area, the usual "clinic" smell is absent, and the equipment is "state of the art," mostly made in Europe or Japan. She owns a teeth-whitening device called Diode, one of the only 15 people all over the country who owns this device. Another is the "Eye Check," an eyeglass-like device with an earphone. In it, patients can watch movies, complete with sound, while she works on their teeth. This device is very popular, especially with kids.
In terms of the latest technological breakthroughs in her field, she regularly attends various symposia on dental care. In fact, she is again scheduled to leave for China to attend another symposium on new dental information. "I see to it that I am updated with the latest medical knowledge by attending symposia and seminars on dental care and dental management. I even look at the latest equipment," she narrates, adding that foreign patients would always know if their dentist knows the latest trends.
"Thats why I always seek new knowledge because people know if one is abreast with the times or simply stagnating with knowledge from the past."
But Rosanna is not all about clients and improving her craft. "Together with my husband, we join medical/dental outreach programs, caring for the less fortunate and sharing with them our time, talent and knowledge, while bringing back to God the glory and our gratitude by offering free service to fellow Filipinos."
The showbiz bug is also still in her, even if she left, albeit temporarily. Lately, she is seen in commercials of top fastfood chains like Goldilocks, McDonalds, and Chowking. She is also in laundry commercials like the ones for Tide and Zonrox, and telecom firms like Smart.
