3 loveteams together in 3-in-1 love story

Star Cinema brings together three of today’s hottest loveteams in its forthcoming trilogy offering entitled Because of You, directed by John-D Lazatin, Mae Cruz and Cathy Garcia-Molina from a screenplay by Mel del Rosario.

It’s actually three love stories woven into one, connected to each other by a 1975 Beetle which stands as mute witness to the romantic incidents, the joys and pains each of the owners goes through as the Beetle changes hands.

The three pairs of lovers are played by Kristine Hermosa and Diether Ocampo, Heart Evangelista and Geoff Eigenmann, and Hero Angeles and Sandara Park.

In the story, Kristine and Diether play a couple about to get married. Diether as RJ has been planning his entire life around Kristine as Ria. To pay part of the wedding expenses, Diether sells his prized possession, a 1975 Beetle which was handed down to him by his parents. The Beetle has witnessed important episodes in Diether’s life but Diether is forced to part with it.

The next owner is Heart as Cara who meets Geoff as Roni when the Beetle breaks down in the middle of the road and Geoff helps her fix it. Heart has never fallen in love and she’s afraid to take the risk, until she discovers that Geoff is the former boyfriend of her best friend who tells Heart that Geoff has a problem with sustaining a relationship and keeping his word.

The Beetle then finds its way to Hero as Louie, a tourist guide who meets Sandara as April, a Korean girl, who comes to the Philippines to meet her Filipina mother, a no-show at the airport. Sandara makes up stories, telling Hero that she’s a popular soap star in Korea and she is rich when in fact she’s running out of money.

If the Beetle could only talk, it will have a lot of stories to tell about the three pairs of lovers.

Because of You is the first big-screen team-up Kristine and Diether who are fresh from the just-concluded top-rated ABS-CBN soap Sana’y Wala Nang Wakas, and also for Heart and Geoff who are paired in the ongoing ABS-CBN soap Hiram.

Hero and Sandara are products of the popular ABS-CBN talent search Star Circle Quest, making their movie debut in Because of You.
