They say that before we are born, God introduces us to our soulmates. If luck is on our side, well meet, remember and recognize that person in our lifetime. Not everyone is as lucky as Toti, a man gifted with the genius of music, who had a baffling and recurring dream of a woman ever since he was younger.
After dedicating his life to making music in the Philippines, Toti moved to the US to start over just when his career was peaking. Life was hard, being alone and being a struggling musician in a foreign country. His talent for playing instruments took him far enough to earn a living and at the most unexpected moment, he saw a woman he instantly recognized: Joni, literally the woman of his dreams.
Letting go of a career and moving to another country were difficult but he later realized that his dreams were a premonition that led him to the woman hed spend the rest of his life with. The chemistry was instantaneous. They were married and raised a family.
Toti always questioned the peculiarity of dreaming of this woman ever since he was younger. The answer came to him years later when he was diagnosed to be suffering from a silent killer, cancer. The illness left Toti weak but at his lowest point, when life itself was slipping away, Joni would stand to be his source of strength and the guardian of his life.
The episode boasts of an all-star cast led by Ricky Davao (Toti) with Chin-Chin Gutierrez (Joni), Carl John Barrameda (as the young Toti), Eva Darren (as Caridad, Totis mother), Pocholo Montes (Francisco, Totis father) and Miguel Vera (as Rico J. Puno).
The Toti Fuentes Story is written by Gilbeys Sardea and directed by Mae Cruz. Maalaala Mo Kaya features the story of Toti, the dreamer and survivor tonight on ABS-CBN.
