Fresh from the phenomenal success of the first single from his self-titled debut album, Christian Bautista releases his second single, Hands To Heaven to an eager public which seems to be hanging on to every word from the 22-year-old pop star. Only weeks after its release, the album shot up to the top spot in pop radio stations and music channels.
A remake of the classic Senti song from the 90s band, Breathe, Hands To Heaven is a soothing journey into the mind and heart. It is filled with heartfelt lyrics and is one of the most easily recognizable and memorable tunes in pop music.
The music video, too, is a remarkable piece. It tackles the familiar territory of telenovelas by parodying the too romantic tale of the mermaid and shipwrecked sailor. In it, Bautista portrays a drowning man saved by a woman he eventually falls in love with. Their relationship blossoms only for him to find out that they cannot be together because she happens to be a mermaid. Perhaps the very first video-novela of its time, it has nonetheless scored big with critics and fans alike. It is a chart topper in music channel countdowns, MYX Hit Chart and MTV Diyes.
