‘Max-imum’ Impact soon on ANC

DIRECT LINE - Boy Abunda -
As the unstoppable election train goes full speed ahead, the voting public wants to be a step ahead in terms of information on the issues, personalities, conflicts, scandals and gossip on the campaign trail.

To address this need, the ABS-CBN News Channel (ANC) has launched its newest talk show specially made for the ongoing campaign period, Impact 2004.

Hosted by esteemed publisher, columnist and political expert Max Soliven, Impact 2004 resurrects the spirit of the highly controversial and historic current affairs show Mr. Soliven hosted in the pre-Martial Law years. This time, Impact 2004 pairs Mr. Soliven’s trademark wit and brilliance with today’s current crop of broadcast journalists, who will help him bring out the juiciest, most unguarded moments from political aspirants out to get people’s votes.

Max Soliven has covered the terms of eight Philippine presidents in his illustrious and award-winning journalistic career. As a broadcaster, he is best known as a talk show host for ABS-CBN in the 1970s, where his show Impact broke the Marcos government’s plan to impose Martial Law. The program was put off the air as ABS-CBN, along with other opposition media, was closed and Mr. Soliven was imprisoned.

When he was released, Mr. Soliven resumed his career as a journalist. Today, he is publisher of The Philippine STAR.

Impact 2004
airs Fridays, 8 to 9 p.m. preempting ANC News.
Doctor To The Stars
It goes without saying that she is universally acknowledged as the most sought after and the most high profile "Doctor to the Stars" in the country today. Without a doubt, Dr. Vicki Belo earned her current stature by offering not only the latest but also the finest in cosmetic dermatology and surgery. The country’s top celebrities, in fact, constantly turn to Dr. Belo for pampering and rejuvenation.

Her list of clients includes such A-list stars as Regine Velasquez, Kris Aquino, Aubrey Miles, Angela Velez, Katya Santos, Diana Zubiri, among others.

Kris, in fact, has been very vocal about how she maintains her shapely girlish figure with a little help from liposuction and Dr. Belo.

Aubrey, on the other hand, swears by the Obagi Oxygen Facial offered by the Belo Medical Group. The same goes for Karylle, former Miss Universe Margie Moran, and Alice Dixson, avowed Obagi system regulars.

A multitude of gorgeous celebrities religiously go to Dr. Belo’s clinics for such topnotch services as Laser Hair Removal, Lipo-Dissolve, and Laser-Assisted Liposuction. Truth be told, not only the women, but also the men troop to Dr. Belo’s five clinics all over Metro Manila. Such hunky he-men as Jericho Rosales and Albert Martinez are known to be Belo loyalists.

"One of the greatest satisfactions in my line of work is that you see people blossom into a better, more confident individuals. You can really see the change in their disposition, in their personality," Dr. Belo relates. "Like when I did the Makeover to the Max segment on (the GMA 7 show) Sis, one of our patients really bloomed. From a frumpy, overweight matron she became a self-assured lady." Because she wants to popularize the latest in cosmetic dermatology and surgery, Dr. Belo tirelessly grants TV, newspaper and magazine interviews (now she even edits her own mag Skin).

Her main goal is for more and more Filipinos to become aware that state-of-the-art technology like Aptos Thread Seamless Facelift is now available in the country–principally, through the Belo Medical Group.

"You don’t have to go abroad to look beautiful," Dr. Belo affirms.
