Anne Curtis wanted to be a princess, a role she got to play in her first movie, Magic Kingdom. But the Aussie beauty claims shes no royalty.
"I like simple things," she confesses. "You can take me anywhere. I am not picky about where I would be eating. I really am not fuzzy." Anne, 18, however, admits that shes the familys baby.
"I get babied a lot by my family," she says, "and even by my barkada."
Its probably her fragile looks an unmistakable blend of Asian feminity combined with the toughness of a Western heritage that makes Anne stand out among the multitudes of movie star wannabes.
She was only 12 and fresh from Melbourne, Australia when a talent scout for product commercials spotted her eating with her family at a hamburger joint. She did not speak a word of Tagalog then, and her Australian father was skeptical about Anne joining a glamour industry. But Annes Filipino mother insisted her daughter take the plunge. That was when Anne landed the role of a princess in Magic Kingdom.
"My first step in showbiz was also a moment of glory for me," Anne recalls. "It was such a beautiful movie, and I couldnt ask for more for a first attempt."
Then came the guest appearances in Ikaw Na Sana. But her stint as a mainstay of TGIS gave her stardom.
In Ika-13 Kapitulo, Anne played the devils daughter, a part that challenged the young actress no end. It ran counter to her sweet image, but the role gave her showbiz persona a new dimension.
Filipinas saw Anne among a sterling cast of dramatic greats, including Metro Manila Film Fest 2003 Best Actress Maricel Soriano, and Annes personal favorite, Dawn Zulueta.
Now seen regularly in Nuts Entertainment, Anne once agains shows local audiences her versatillity.
Tapped as newest celebrity endorser for Head and Shoulders Shampoo, Anne is also seen regularly on TV, pitching the product to millions of television viewers.
But Anne, whose long, smooth hair is a testimony to the products benefits, confessed she did not audition for her first major commercial project.
"I just found out one day that I would be doing a commercial for Head and Shoulders," she relates.
Kate Yu, Procter & Gambles assistant brand manager for Head and Shoulders, says Anne was the top choice to endorsed the brand.
"She fits the bill perfectly. The Head and Shoulders celebrity isnt just any celebrity. She is approachable, pretty, stylish, hip and sexy. And Anne is all that," explains Kate. "Despite being very young, she appeals to a large and diverse group of people. Shes known for her long hair, and shes one of the prettiest faces in Philippine show biz today."
Just as the product promised, Annes long hair is silky-smooth and full of life. It also keeps her hair 100 percent flake free. With regular use of Head and Shoulders Shampoo, the scalp regains its renewal cycle, working eight times better for scalp coverage.
