Rio Diaz story on Maalaala

Tonight’s Maalaala Mo Kaya features Eula Valdez in the inspiring portrait of Rio Diaz, with Ricky Davao as Rio’s husband Charlie Cojuangco.

The public knows the story of Rio who until now continues her unwavering battle with cancer. She was diagnosed with the disease in late 1998 and has undergone treatment and a series of chemotherapy in the US. Through it all, Rio’s faith in the Lord has remained strong and that’s what gives her the will to live.

"I kept asking God for a sign to explain why this happened . I kept begging the Lord to show me He was in control," says Rio. "I needed Him to tell me there has been a mistake. What I realized was that God was sending me a bright red neon message with my cancer–one I had to figure out on my own!"
