KC ‘sizzles’ in Paris

FUNFARE - Ricky Lo -
So what has KC been up to since she left for Paris more than five months ago – that is, aside from minding her studies (Business Management)?

Well, three weeks ago when her Lola Helen Gamboa-Sotto (sister of KC’s Mom Sharon Cuneta-Pangilinan’s mother, Elaine Cuneta) made a stopover in Paris during a European holiday with friends (Carol Cheng, Mabel Sotto, Cynthia Albano and Jean Muñiz), KC got a much-needed two-day break.

"KC slept in my hotel," said Helen, "and we were like long-lost friends. Magkayakap kaming matulog; kuwentuhan kami nang kuwentuhan. She was so happy to see me. I cried when I saw her.

We hugged and cried together."

During those two days, Helen would fetch KC in school and they’d shop or just stroll in that City of Lights.

"KC speaks French fluently. When we shopped, siya ang tumatawad in French. I was proud hearing her speak the language so well."

Despite their tight schedule, Helen and KC managed to sneak out and watch the Moulin Rouge. They and the rest of the group also went to the Champs-Elysees and had dinner in a sidewalk café.

KC is staying in an apartment near her school.

"She has learned to fend for herself," added Helen. "I’m proud to see how responsible she has become."

Helen said that she didn’t ask KC if she’s coming home for Christmas. She doubts if mom Sharon can take time out to fly to Paris because Sharon herself is busy with the promo for her Metro Filmfest movie, Crying Ladies.

But according to Sharon, KC is spending the holidays here and will go back to Paris after New Year. "It will be strictly vacation for KC," said Sharon. "She won’t accept any offers."

KC was accompanied to Paris by Sharon and stepfather, Sen. Kiko Pangilinan, together with KC’s sister Frankie.

Asked if Billy Crawford (a pop star in Europe, based in Paris) has renewed friendship with KC, Helen made no comment.
Limpbizkit Concert Cancelled
The bad news is that the LimpBizkit concert scheduled Dec. 9 at the ULTRA Open Field has been cancelled.

But the good news is that the winners of the LimpBizkit promo quiz will get their prizes, perhaps the LimpBizkit’s latest CD instead of concert tickets.

The contest would have had its third in a series of questions today but it has been discontinued.

The names of winners during the first week were published in Funfare last Monday (Nov. 24). Here are the winners during the second week (who answered correctly the question, Name three songs from LimpBizkit’s latest album Results May Vary. Answers are any of the following: Eat You Alive, Re-entry, Gimme The Mic, Underneath The Gun, Down Another Day, Almost Over, Build a Bridge, Red Light-Green Light, The Only One, Let Me Down, Lonely World, Phenomenon, Head for the Barricade, Behind Blue Eyes and Drown): Rogelio Go Jr. of Sta. Mesa, Manila; Danielle Veluz of Mandaluyong City; Jojo A. Delfin of Sta. Lucia, Pasig City; and Mary Christine Anne Javier of Sta. Mesa, Manila.

Winners may call Lizza Nakpil (at 817-2940) where they can claim their prizes.

Incidentally, also cancelled is the Brian McKnight concert scheduled at the Big Dome first week of December. I guess the LimpBizkit and McKnight were scared by negative reports about the Philippines. Stephen Bishop, who also had a concert here last week, said that he almost backed out but decided to push through with his show no matter what.
Dr. Dizon Cares For Your Skin
Check out Dr. Jonathan Dizon, 43, for your skin problems at his clinic at St. Luke’s Medical Center where he has been a resident dermatologist for the past 11 years. Like Dr. Nellie Yu who has a flawless complexion, Jonathan is the best advertisement for his profession. He has clear skin, as smooth as his manners.

Jonathan graduated from the UST College of Medicine. Besides caring for people’s skin, his other passion is animals.

"I love pets," said Jonathan. "In fact, as a kid I wanted to be a veterinarian. I had all kinds of pets – dogs, cats, fishes, birds. As I grew older, I became fond of such exotic pets as Arowanas and little green turtles. My grandfather didn’t want me to be an animal doctor so I ended up a dermatologist."

Jonathan was already a licensed doctor when he took up Dermatology for four years at the Jose Reyes Memorial Medical Center.

"A dermatologist is not a beautician," he clarified, "but a physician who makes people beautiful and treats their skin illnesses and disorders."
