A harvest of honors for Ogie

When it rains, it really pours! That adage holds true for Ogie Alcasid. Ogie was recently awarded the much coveted Entertainer of the Year trophy from the annual Aliw Awards, the highest recognition given to top entertainers of the country.

Aside from this award, Ogie also won the Aliw Best Male Performer in a Major Concert, for his smash concert OA Sa Hits at the Araneta Coliseum last year. Just a few days before that, Ogie bagged the Best Male Music Video for his video of the song Sana, from MTV Asia.

"All these awards are a perfect gift for my birthday this Aug. 27," says the singer-composer. Indeed, Ogie will be very busy the next few weeks. He will soon start shooting Kapten Barbel for the forthcoming Metro Manila Filmfest. He will also start promoting his new song, Magpakailanman (a duet with Regine Velasquez), from his bestselling album, Mga Kuwento Ng Pag-ibig. Incidentally, Ogie goes to the malls this weekend to promote his new album.

Ogie goes to SM on Aug. 24 to promote the album. Magpakailanman, the new song was also launched last Sunday, Aug. 17, in Ogie’s top-rating Sunday musical variety show S.O.P.

On Aug. 24, Ogie goes to Sydney, Australia, to spend his birthday with his family (wife Michelle, and two kids, Leila and Sarah). When Ogie returns, he will start rehearsing for his forthcoming anniversary concert, OA at 15, to be held at the Araneta Coliseum on Oct. 10.
