Smiles and surprises at the FAMAS Awards
April 14, 2003 | 12:00am
No, Magellan did not threaten to rise from his grave, when the FAMAS Awards named the highly-acclaimed Munting Tinig as Best Picture, thus beating Lapu-Lapu in the race. But that doesnt mean the recently-concluded awards rites at the AFP Theater was bereft of surprises.
It came towards the end, when a non-plussed Aleck Bovick was named Best Actress for the sexy movie Tampisaw, thus besting the likes of Sharon Cuneta and Ara Mina. The sexy star was so cool, one wondered how a first-time winner like her can be so unruffled when others in her situation would have at least gasped in surprise and delight.
And why were there banners that congratulated her? Why the well-prepared proofs of victory?
The pictures on this spread tell the rest of the story.
