Christian caught with his pants down

FUNFARE - Ricky Lo -
Do you sleep in the nude?

That’s probably the (unasked) question in the minds of (especially female) fans who see in the flesh the 25-year-old six-footer Christian Vasquez who first burst into public conciousness through the "Suportahan ta ka" PLDT commercial.

If not, what does he wear when he sleeps?

Thus far, nobody has dared ask Christian even that question, afraid maybe that Christian might get offended and shoo the curious away with a curt "It’s none of your business!," even if it is, indeed, the fans’ business to inquire (if not to know) because, let’s face it, Christian is now a public figure/property.

Actually, Christian is, well, "game," meaning he’d be willing to answer those and other even more personal questions if anybody does ask him.

So, what does Christian wear when he sleeps? Does he sleep in the nude (like most actors and actresses, especially those who live alone)?

"I sleep in my underwear, only in my underwear, without any shirt on," smiled Christian.

That is, in his Baleno Private (Under)wear of which he’s the newest image model.

"I’m comfortable in my Baleno," he added.

And so is he with his body which he has shown to advantage in magazine pictorials (Cosmopolitan, etc.), on the ramp and in commercials (partially for the Baleno print ads and billboards).

How does Christian take care of that body ("To die for," enthused a Christian Vasquez fan here in The STAR)?

"I work hard to maintain it. I check if there are areas that need improvement, like my calves, and I concentrate on them during my regular workouts."

His workouts are complemented with a strict diet low in fat and carbohydrates, with lots of fruits (except the soft ones because they’re high in sugar). His favorite "meal" is a sandwich consisting of wheat bread and sliced tuna flakes mixed with tomatoes and lettuce with a little vinegar and catsup for flavor.

"Do I have any qualms showing my body?" Christian, an Ilonggo (from Bacolod, no wonder he was at home in that "Suportahan ta ka" PLDT commercial), asked with a "needless to say" glint in his eyes. "Being a model, I’m used to not only wearing bikinis but also wearing nothing at all. But I reserve my very private part only for the woman I love."

Christian is separated from his wife; he has a kid. Since he and his (estranged) wife, now based in the States, are leading separate, presumably happy, lives, they’re both free to go out with other partners. Christian has just split up with a model (and beauty-contest runner-up) with whom he was often seen in socials. He claims to be fancy-free.

"I like girls who physically attractive, simple and tidy," said Christian. "Of course, she should have a pleasing personality. I get turned off by girls who are vain and self-centered."

A La Salle-Bacolod Enterprise Economics graduate, Christian planned to put up his own business after school – until that PLDT commercial came along and drastically changed his plans. No regrets, though, said Christian who now plans to get a Baleno franchise and put up an outlet in Bacolod.

Now, is Christian Vasquez mere body beautiful, with so much between some other parts of his body but not (like most models are suspected to be) between his ears?

"The public should watch me act in the movies and TV dramas and judge for themselves," said Christian.

Launched as an actor in the ABS-CBN teleserye Sa Dulo ng Walang Hanggan, Christian proceeded to do comedy in the ABS-CBN sitcom Attagirl. He has done three movies so far (the Sharon-Robin starrer Pagdating ng Panahon, Jologs and Nine Mornings) and is a regular cast member of the GMA soap Kahit Kailan.
