The CompanY, the countrys premier vocal group, came home recently from a successful Pan Pacific Tour that brought the group to Singapore and Guam. All concert dates played out to SRO audiences which accorded the versatile vocal sextet with jubilant standing ovations at the end of each performance.
The CompanYs concert act was a dizzying flurry of a wide range of music genres, costume changes, props, elements of musical theater and vaudeville, comedy, choreography and witty banter.
"Basically, we compiled our strongest showstoppers and presented them in a theatrical setting," explains Moy Ortiz, the CompanYs artistic director.
The Singapore concert, titled In The CompanY of Love, was produced by the Philippine Cultural Society (of Singapore), led by Perlita Tiro in cooperation with Philippine Airlines. Held at the Jubilee Hall of the Raffles Hotel, the concert had Eugene Villaluz and Babes Conde as special guests. The group was featured twice at the Singapores Straits Times and did a radio promo tour in Singapores top FM stations.
Meanwhile, the CompanYs Guam concert was held at Micronesia Mall Expo Hall. This time, The CompanY performed with Aiza Seguerra. Titled Aiza and The CompanY Live in Guam!, the concert was produced by the Santa Barbara Catholic School under the leadership of Sister Jeanette Marie Pangilinan and Sister Rosario Gaite. Beth Martin was the musical director of the concert which was attended by over 2,500 people.
The CompanY is now promoting its second single from its latest album (Storybook* under Pop Art Music of Viva Records), titled Baka Ikaw. The song was written by Moy and Edith Gallardo, the same team which wrote Pagdating ng Panahon and was featured in the Regine Velasquez-Richard Gomez blockbuster film Ikaw Lamang Hanggang Ngayon. The CompanY also filmed the corresponding music video for the single. Storybook* is produced by Margot Gallardo.
Upcoming projects for the CompanY include a summer concert series at the Hard Rock Café and a stint as the only Asian group to perform in the Explore A Capella Festival in Singapore. The CompanYs annual big concert will be held this time at the CCP on June 25.
The CompanY is Sweet Plantado, Annie Quintos, Cecile Bautista, Reuben Laurente, Andre Castillo and Moy Ortiz.
Electronica enthusiasts had a blast when DJ SS and Warren G performed in Manila in a one-night performance billed as The S Files Album Tour. This was the first of Incus Productions Wherelse but Wherelse? series that happened recently at Wherelse, Hotel Intercontinental in Makati.
DJ SS and Warren G are drum and bass DJs who performed last in Hong Kong for thousands of fans back to back with premiere DJs Goldie and Nick Warren. Owing its roots to hip hop, drum and bass has entered a new level with this sight and sound show of DJ SS on the decks and Warren G on the mic.
The S Files Album Tour was sponsored by MAA General Assurance Philippines, Olympia Courtyard Suites, Pioneer Sound, Vision, Soul, NU 107s Open House and [email protected]. Door entrance is P200.
Watch out for five more shows in the Wherelse but Wherelse Series as Incus Productions bring more DJs from the different genres of dance such as world music, funk, progressive and jazz chill out.
