Nora on Matet issue: No comment!

FUNFARE - Ricky Lo -
When Nora Aunor met the movie press the other day at Dulcinea (Tomas Morato) to announce her concert, The Legend... Live, at the Music Museum on Oct. 18 and 19, she was bugged by questions about the current controversy swirling around her prodigal adopted daughter Matet – you know, who is her real mother? (Three women have surfaced so far, all claiming to be "it," but unless a DNA test is conducted on them, Matet herself can’t tell who because she was an infant when given to Nora.)

Is she hurt by Matet’s insinuations that she hasn’t been a good mother?

Is she attending Matet’s celebration (just a simple salu-salo and not a big bash) on her 18th birthday on Oct. 4?

Doesn’t she have any regrets adopting kids who turned out to be, that’s it, "big headaches" as they grew up?

Who’s better (as an adopted daughter), Matet or Lotlot de Leon (now Mrs. Ramon Christopher)?

Still no comment.

But egged on, Nora said, "Let’s leave Lotlot alone. I guess masaya na ang buhay niya ngayon."

With no movie in the near future, Nora is concentrating on her concert (her first since 1998 when she staged the SRO smash-hit Handog at the Araneta Coliseum) and her as yet untitled album (to be released by Viva Records).

No, thank you, she won’t ever dip into the uncertain political waters again (she ran for Governor of Camarines Sur but lost to Luis Villafuerte) even if this early, many people are trying to lure her into running for the same position again in 2004.

For her concert, Nora will have as special guest Jo Awayan. Among the songs in her repertoire are her standard favorites such as Didn’t We, Here Comes the Sun, Moonlight Serenade, Can’t Buy Me Love, People and Softly.

(For inquiries, call 524-37-44, 0917-834-8839 or 0917-6499570. Ticket prices are P1,200, P1,000 and P700.)
Quiet Birthday celebration for Angelu
When Angelu de Leon turned 22 last month, she marked the special day with a small but intimate dinner with friends at Salo Restaurant in Quezon City.

According to her friend Vickie Perez de Tagle (among the well-wishers), Angelu’s ex-boyfriend Joko Diaz, father of her first love daughter Nicole, and the "mysterious" man who sired Angelu’s second love child, didn’t show up (not that they were expected or invited).

Her post-partum period (depression after child delivery) over, Angelu was back to her spirited self, enjoying the night with her guests, added Vickie, "as if there was no tomorrow." She opened a big bottle of champagne (Asti) and shared it with friends Troy Montero who came with girlfriend Nikki Valdez, Bojo Molina, Atom Henares and non-showbiz guy Geoff Briz. On hand to help Angelu and Nicole entertain the guests was Angelu’s mom Flora.

Later, Nicole (who’s growing up to be as vivo as her mom) took Angelu’s camera and started shooting away. Nicole’s best shot (a bit blurred but good enough) showed her mom teary-eyed with happiness.
Johnny joins the movies
As a teenager, Johnny Revilla got several juicy offers which he turned down because, although he had the looks and, I’m sure, the talent, he didn’t want to follow in the footsteps of his famous father, Armando Goyena. Or maybe, Johnny was just worried that he might suffer from the inevitable comparison with his dad who, in his prime, was one of LVN Pictures’ hottest properties and among the country’s top matinee idols.

But then, better late than never.

Now a father of four fast-growing children and an ideal husband to Janet Basco (whose career he also manages), Johnny has finally succumbed to the call of the (movie) camera. In his father’s latest movie, Regal Films’ Yamashita (directed by Chito Roño), Johnny is finally having his much-delayed and long overdue acting "debut" playing – what else? – one of his father’s sons. (The younger Armando is played by Piolo Pascual).

Since Armando and company will be shooting some scenes in San Francisco, USA, he asked Johnny to please accompany him. That gave direk Chito a bright idea. He needed an actor to play one of Armando’s sons so since Johnny was going with them, why didn’t Chito make an offer Johnny couldn’t refuse?

So there.

Commented the Funfare DPA who relayed this bit of interesting news, "Makakapag-travel na si Johnny, kikita pa siya!"

Oh, well, some people can, indeed, be very lucky!
