Fatboy Slim tops 2001 MTV Video Music Awards nomin

Fatboy Slim is the top contender in this year’s MTV Video Music Awards which will be broadcast live from the New York City’s Metropolitan Opera House at Lincoln Center on the evening of Thursday, Sept. 6. The top proponent of brit hop got a total of nine nominations for his video Weapon of Choice. These are for Video of the Year, Dance Video, Direction, Choreography, Special Effects, Art Direction, Editing, Cinematography and Breakthrough Video. Just in case you don’t know, this is the one that features actor Christopher Walken.

MTV celebrates its 20th anniversary on the air this year and it has been giving out video music awards for only 18 years. So while the annual event already has a massive audience in most parts of the world and music artists are only too happy to get one or more of those Moonman trophies, this year’s choices will surely be considered extra special.

MTV also gives out Moonman trophies to Best Direction, Best Choreography, Best Special Effects, Best Art Direction, Best Editing and Best Cinematography in the Professional Categories of the awards. Everything is aside from the International Viewers Choice Award wherein viewers of MTV’s international channels vote for their favorite videos in their territories. These are MTV Latin America, MTV Brazil, MTV Russia, MTV Korea, MTV Mandarin, MTV India, MTV Japan, MTV Australia and MTV Southeast Asia where Kayla’s Hanggang Ngayon is a finalist.
