August 17, 2001 | 12:00am
In the grandest curtain call of his storied career to date, pianist/songwriter Jim Brickman presents his first live album, My Romance: An Evening With Jim Brickman, featuring such illustrious guest performers as Donny Osmond, Olivia Newton-John, saxophonist Dave Koz, keyboardist David Benoit, singer Anne Cochran and violinist Tracy Silverman. The album cements Jims reputation as a cornerstone of adult contemporary music.
Recorded last March in over two nights at Salt Lake Citys historic Capitol Theater, My Romance: An Evening With Jim Brickman brought together some of Jims closest friends and music colleagues to share in the performance of Brickman classics and several new songs as well. The album includes The Love I Found You (the albums debut single and the first recording featuring Jim on lead vocals); instrumentals like To The Moon, Picture This, Freedom and Lake Erie Rainfall. Duets such as The Love of My Life, sung with Donny Osmond, Change of Heart and Valentine, both sung with Oli-via Newton-John, By Heart sung with Anne Cochran and Glory, performed with fellow keyboardist David Benoit. Other featured tracks are Edgewater, Circles and Starbright (The Lullaby Medley).
"It was about getting the best representation of who I am, who my friends are, what my musical style is and what my stage presence is, all in one," stated Brickman about his album. As for his illustrious colleagues, Jim is generous with praise. "Donny Osmond," he notes, "is a great singer, funny with great stage presence and a dry sense of humor. Olivia is the sweetest, kindest, most wonderful person I know. Everything about her exudes positive energy."
Jim Brickman himself has long been a staple of adult-contemporary, pop, country and smooth jazz radio playlists. During the past five years, he has also become a concert headliner, with gold selling albums like By Heart, The Gift and Picture This, his 1997 album which includes Valentine, sung by country star Martina McBride. Valentine rocketed up the charts and became the overnight theme song for the romantics.
Jim Brickman is now definitely a top concert draw, thanks largely to the warm rapport he has always enjoyed with his audience. Now, that magical connection is captured for all time on My Romance: An Evening with Jim Brickman. It stands as solid proof that the romance between Jim Brickman and music will last forever.
What has Marco Sison been up to lately? Besides singing and politics, Marco has recently opened his very own franchise of the FedEx delivery services. Marco is the third artist, the other two being comedian Gary Lising and rapper Andrew E. here in the country to own and operate such a franchise.
The name of Marcos business is Mail and More Business Center and it is located at the GF G128 of Star Mall in EDSA corner Shaw Boulevard, Mandaluyong City.
As the name of the shop implies, Mail and More Business Center offers more than just FedEx delivery and mail services. It also offers Air21 for domestic express delivery, internet and computer rentals, desktop publishing, internet and phone cards, junior call mall, Philpost, greeting cards and an RCPI Peragram.
The idea of putting up a mail and delivery service shop started when Marco was campaigning during the election period this year. He came across Bert Lina and FedEx who talked him into opening the business.
Open from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m., Mail and More Business center is located in a 32-sq. meter area and is the 80th authorized FedEx franchise here in the country today. Soon, the shop will also be offering print and layout services that is ideal for concert and show posters, tickets and the like.
Marco himself does the daily ope-ration of the shop, along with his wife Jojo Aracama-Sison. Aside from this, Marco is also busy promoting his latest album under Viva Records titled Maghihintay Na Lamang. The 12 track album features Marco as he gives a male rendition to some of todays popular female songs. Moreover, Marco is also preparing for his Australian and US concert.
