After a two-year break with the movies, the original bad boy of the Philippine cinema is back with a vengeance with FLT Films’ latest movie to hit the theaters this May 30, Carta Alas ... Huwag Ka Nang Humirit.
Ace Vergel’s return is always welcome news especially to the fans of action movies and FLT Films spared no expense to back up that audience interest. The movie cost millions of pesos to produce including Ace’s reported talent fee in the range of three to five million pesos but this is not a cause of worry for the producer.
Mommy Rose Flaminiano is confident of a guaranteed hit considering the fact that historically, Ace Vergel is the only action star who hasn’t had a flop in his box-office record.
"We know we won’t be getting Ace cheap because he is still Ace Vergel, the ace action star," states the producer of FLT Films.
"We believe Ace still has the magic in the box office and we can’t remember reading an Ace movie that has flopped."
For his part, Ace is just as excited with this movie. He was last seen in the big screen via Armado for Star Cinema.
"I miss doing movies," he says simply.
"My two-year break made me more excited in doing Carta Alas and I’m glad it was offered to me by Mommy Rose.
Written and directed by Jose N. Carreon fresh from his last movie hit Oops Teka Lang starring the other bad boy of the cinema, Carta Alas also stars Aintonette Taus, Wowie de Guzman, Efren Reyes, Jr., Dick Israel and Piel Morena.
