• Correction, please! Edgar "Bobot" Mortiz isn’t running for councilor (Marikina City) and neither is Al Tantay (Antipolo). But Rico J. Puno is running for reelection, still for councilor, in Makati City.
• Ryan Christian, the five-year-old son of Batangas Rep. Ralph Recto and Lipa City Mayor Vilma Santos (who’s practically a winner in her reelection bid because she’s running virtually unopposed), has junked Cameron Diaz as his "crush." Several days ago, Ryan accompanied his parents to Le Souffle for the taping of Martin late @ nite. When the boy saw Charlene Gonzales and her mom, Elvie Gonzales, at a nearby table, he rushed to Charlene and told her, "Come over, you’re now my crush!" Told about the amusing incident, Aga Muhlach quipped, "Aagawin pa sa akin si Charlene!"
• Add Daphne Oseña and Patrick Paez to the growing list of celebrities getting married this year (aside from Dingdong Avanzado and Jessa Zaragoza on March 18, Franco Laurel and Ayen Munji on March 18, and Aga and Charlene on May 28). Daphne, co-host of F (with Cher Calvin and Angel Aquino), and Patrick have been going steady for more than three years now.
Because he’s forever in an "ecstatic" condition (no wonder his pimples are breaking out), he seems to have lost his sense of time, showing up late for work and his appointments and in the process giving his co-workers a headache. He has already been dropped as co-host of a weekly show and, very soon, from a youth-oriented show. You see, he simply doesn’t "click" with his co-stars because of his erratic work attitude and habitual tardiness.
He has been begging his former loveteam-mate to take him back but the actress only tells him now, "Sorry, but you have had your chance. I’m happy with my life now; I’m happy with P____ now."
In short, diyan ka na!
The actor has found a girlfriend in a bold dancer whom he visits regularly in the wee hours of the morning at the place along Timog Avenue where she works. Imagine, he replaced the popular actress with a "low-flying dove" (as in kalapating mababa ang lipad)!
Even the two ex-lovers’ co-stars and director in their return team-up are losing enthusiasm because the good old chemistry between them is gone, hopelessly and helplessly gone. They can’t pretend to be still in love with each other, can they? Otherwise, the fans can see through the pretense to the detriment of the movie.
Meanwhile, somebody should pull the young actor out of his "ecstatic" condition, fast!
Pomeranz saw Jolina on A.S.A.P. and he expressed a desire to perform with her. In their Chicago show, Jolina and Pomeranz will do a duet of If You Walked Away.
Meanwhile, after being sentimental and melodramatic in her quadruple platinum album On Memory Lane, Jolina is doing more danceable tunes in her new album, Red Alert, All Hits Dance Remix: Klubber’s Guidebook (also on Star Records), with Laging Tapat (Deep House Mix) as carrier single.
Her new sitcom (which replaced Labs Ko si Babe), Arriba! Arriba!, Saturday nights on ABS-CBN at 7 (directed by Gilbert Perez), is doing even better than her old sitcom, thanks also to her co-stars (Johnny Delgado, Edgar Mortiz, Sandy Andolong, Rufa Mae Quinto, John Lapus, Danilo Barrios and Camille Prats) who contribute to the show’s "riot effect."
So what more can Jolina (who’s turning 23 on Nov. 6) ask for – a boyfriend?
"I’m not looking for one. If he comes, okay. Masaya naman ako sa buhay ko," said Jolina whose earnings have been invested in real estate, a curio store and other businesses. "If ever, I want the guy to have his own disposition, may breeding, may sariling pinupuntahan, may direksyon ang buhay. At may mga property of his own. Ayoko namang maki-ride-on lang siya sa mga naipundar ko."
Prospective suitors, beware!
The good news is that the kink has been ironed out. Well and good, because both Aga and Sharon belong to just one roof, anyway. Here’s the official statement from ABS-CBN:
The cast of Da Body En Da Guard was scheduled to be interviewed live in Sharon Last Feb. 25. Unfortunately, the interview did not push through after a misunderstanding regarding script details, which unduly hurt the stars concerned.
Please find the letter of Gia Garchitorena-Suyao, production manager of Sharon to Ethel Ramos, Aga’s manager, as the Network’s explanation to the incident:
"As production manager of Sharon, it is my responsibility to oversee and ensure that all the areas in producing an episode is ironed out in collaboration with the whole staff. In this particular guesting of Aga Muhlach and Joyce Jimenez, a lot of miscommunication between the staff of Da Body En Da Guard and the staff of Sharon happened. All of us were panicking and pressured, because we wanted to produce a very good episode for our host, Sharon Cuneta and, of course, Aga Muhlach, who would be guesting for the first time.
Upon consultation with our director, Rowell Santiago and creative consultant, Deo Endrinal, I decided to pack up the guesting. I felt at that time that it was the best thing to do, since I didn’t want to be unfair to both Sharon and Aga and with the rest of the cast for not being able to come up with a well prepared episode that they both deserve."
ABS-CBN Television is greatly saddened that this unpleasant incident had to happen to its most treasured talents. The Division and its executives hope that this explanation will put the issue to rest as they accept full responsibility for the incident.
