Curtain-raisers:
* Sorry to say it but, many televiewers will agree, Kris Aquino’s new hairdo doesn’t become her. Observes one televiewer, "It looks as if she engages in a hair-pulling match before she goes in front of the camera." I watch Kris closely on her Today show and on The Buzz and I do agree. Kris looked better with her old hairdo.
* Could it be true that Jessa Zaragoza’s parents (her mother, her biological father and her stepfather) will "boycott" her and Quezon City Councilor Dingdong Avanzado’s wedding on March 18? How come? I thought the domestic dispute has been ironed out.
* According to Lyn Ynchausti, her husband, Tirso Cruz III, is running in May’s elections in Las Piñas not for mayor as reported but as vice mayor, the same position Phillip Salvador will run for in Mandaluyong City against, according to Mandaluyong residents, "a formidable, unbeatable opponent."
First, the bad news: Rosanna Roces was rushed to the Delgado Clinic (on Kamuning Road, Quezon City) the other night and went under the knife due to ectopic pregnancy (two months).
It could have been her third child and her first with husband Tito Molina. Sayang, ’no? One of her fallopian tubes was removed.
Had it been a normal pregnancy, Rosanna would have gone on leave from showbiz for one year, as she had been planning, so she could devote full time to becoming a mom again.
In fact, Rosanna had already met with the producers of her GMA-7 sitcom, 1 For 3 (with Vic Sotto and Ai-Ai delas Alas as co-stars), and told them about her "semi-retirement" decision.
I just don’t know if Rosanna had the same plan for Startalk which she co-hosts with Butch Francisco and Lolit Solis (currently enjoying a bakasyon grande in wintry New York).
As it is, her fans can continue to enjoy the pleasure of Rosanna’s company twice a week, as usual.
Better luck next time, Rosanna and Tito!
And now, the good news: It’s confirmed that Sunshine Cruz, Mrs. Cesar Montano in real life, is one month pregnant. The ultrasound Sunshine underwent last Saturday was "positive," much to the excitement of Sunshine and Cesar who, since their wedding on Sept. 14 last year, have been working hard to have a baby.
So eager – and impatient – was Sunshine to get pregnant that, at one point, she even started taking fertility pills (for one month, one pill a day) even if she didn’t have to because she and Cesar are as healthy as healthy can be.
"I’m going through a difficult period," Sunshine told Funfare. "Palaging masakit ang puson ko, so painful that it sometimes makes me cry. Surprisingly, wala akong morning sickness. But I have this great craving for siopao and tikoy."
A stay-home wife since their wedding, Sunshine is sleepy all the time, as all expectant mothers are, and sometimes has a special fondness for Cesar ("Na pinaglilihian ko rin yata"). Cousins Geneva Cruz (whose marriage to Paco Arespacochaga was annulled recently) and Cebu-based Donna Cruz (Mrs. Yong Larrazabal) have been giving Sunshine tips. (Their other cousin, Sheryl Cruz, now Mrs. Norman John Bustos, is based in California and is also expecting her first-born.)
"Donna has been advising me to watch my movements," said Sunshine. (Donna wants to conceive by March for her and Yong’s second child). "Si Geneva naman, she has been reminding me to avoid wearing high-heeled shoes."
Sunshine will breastfeed her baby – "Sayang naman ang lusog ng dibdib ko, di ba?" she said jokingly. But she will have to go on "indefinite leave" from showbiz after giving birth sometime in September. But first, she will finish her post-wedding movie with Cesar, Alas Dose, which Cesar himself is line-producing and which also stars Christopher de Leon. Because her role requires some physically-strenuous scenes, Sunshine will have to use a "double" to avoid endangering her pregnancy.
