Priscilla gets even bolder in new starrer

More than a year ago, Priscilla Almeda shocked the nation with her daring performance in a highly-controversial film. Dubbed by some critics as "softporn," her steamy scenes had been the talk of the town for several months. Since then a lot of sex nymphets have tried to surpass what Priscilla has done but to no avail.

Now, who could outshine Priscilla? No one else but herself as she bares all in her comeback film, Syota ng Bayan. Priscilla plays a popular bold star who went back to her hometown to seek the mayoralty post in the local election. Priscilla considers the role as the most challenging and enlightening she has had so far.

"It took me a long time to finally consider Syota as a follow-up," she says. "Not that I wanted to be less daring since I knew people will be expecting more baring from me. The thing is, I really didn’t mind being much bolder than before. What counts to me now is the script or the director. In Syota, I’ve got both of these and so those who’ve been waiting for my next movie are assured of double their expectations."

Asked about the "Internet" issue, Priscilla answers: "That’s unacceptable but there’s nothing I can do about it. I even had a hard time explaining to Glydel (Tonton Gutierrez’s girlfriend) that Tonton and I did that ‘wrangler scene’ out of professionalism. I swear we didn’t give in to each other as some malicious reporters suspect."

Director Romy Suzara says: "Expect to see Priscilla at her boldest in this film. But she also has shown her potentials as an actress. Just imagine how well she has portrayed the role of a bold star-turned-politician. I was surprised by her sincerity in putting herself into the character. She could be a Lorna Tolentino in-the-making."

Produced by Solar Films, Syota ng Bayan also stars Eddie Garcia as a corrupt public official. Syota ng Bayan opens this week at several Metro Manila theaters.
