Jolina Magdangal has been chosen spokesperson for College Assurance Plan, the first and largest pre-need company in the Philippines with assets of P28 billion, and which has the largest combined trust fund in the industry for its education and pension companies totalling some P10.6 billion.
CAP first learned about Jolina’s having bought pension plans for herself and her parents and an education plan for her niece, Hannah. CAP saw her as a natural endorser, what with her being cited as the No. 1 Female Personality in the Philippines in a recent CNN international survey; as the newest teen icon and trendsetter with a flourishing fashion business of her own; having a record album that’s considered the biggest success in the Philippine musical industry with sales of over 200,000 copies in just eight months, and having been a recipient of the Gintong Kabataan Award by the Presidential Youth Development in 1996 and 1999 and cited for her role as the National Youth Advocate of the UNICEF and WHO.
CAP, on the other hand, ranks first among pre-need educational companies for 1999 with P4.13 billion in gross sales. CAP Pension Corporation ranks fifth among pre-need pension companies with P1.89 billion in gross sales. As of June 30, CAP Education alone has paid over P4.3 billion in tuition fees. CAP Pension has paid over P453.9 million in pension benefits.
CAP has established CAP College, a school pioneering in college level distance education and the CAP School for the Deaf, a learning institution for the hearing impaired. CAP Foundation has granted 1,733 college scholarships to soldiers, policemen and members of ethnic groups, economically disadvantaged groups and the physically challenged sector through its DEAR CAP (Distance Education Approach and Response for Collegiate Advancement) Program.
