Ralion: The blessings continue to pour
Ralion Alonso is hot copy these days. Still reeling off from the wonderful reception accorded to his debut single Rampa, Ralion continues to sizzle in the music scene, singing and dancing his way to more success in the recording and live circuit.
He jumped in and took a ride with the onslaught of the Latino fever, craze which later created its own niche and following in the music halls of the world. While Ricky Martin, Enrique Iglesia and Marc Anthony propelled themselves to superstardom on the other side of the globe, Ralion made himself visible in the local music scene.
Recently, the Guillermo Awards Foundation handed their Most Promising Singer award to Ralion, in recognition of his potential as a future singing star. "I'm deeply honored with the award," says Ralion, "and it will definitely serve as a reminder to constantly do better in elevating my brand of music and artistry."
It has certainly been a long often arduous climb for Ralion, who immersed himself early on in training to pursue his dreams of becoming a performing artist. He took dance classes from the masters, learned music in school, and participated in almost every kind of art-related workshop when he was growing up. But his adrenaline soared highest everytime he had his dance shoes on, especially when it was jazz and modern dance sessions.
Ralion was lured by theater and his dancing and singing skills became his advantage over actors who merely knew how to act. Inspired by his theater actor-dad, Ralion went on to essay important roles in Camelot, My Fair Lady, The West Side Story and Rama at Sita.
Thinking that he was already at home with stage work, Ralion feels that his venturing into the recording business is an unexpected but a welcome surprise. "And when the opportunity came for me to not only sing but dance, it was a bonus with a capital B!" Ralion signed with Viva Records which together with is manager Sandra Chaves invested in heavy promotions to make sure their new talent will be heard -- and seen -- where it counts most.
Soon, Ralion's name was splattered in many posters of concerts, shows and events. He remains a much sough-after artist who can host, sing and dance all in one show.
Ralion's follow-up single is currently playing on the airwaves. Titled Naaalala, it's still the same catchy, upbeat dance tune people look for in a Ralion Alonso song. With this new single, Ralion works with the same intensity and passion as he did in the first. "Success never comes easy. And if you ever have a taste of it, it just means that there is still so much to learn and work hard at. I also learned that in this business, one has to strike while the iron is hot."
