Rosemarie Sonora was launched to stardom in 1966 along with nine other newcomers. They were Gina Pareño, Loretta Marquez, Blanca Gomez, Shirley Moreno, Dindo Fernando, Bert Leroy Jr., Edgar Salcedo, and others Ramil and Pepito Rodriguez. They were called, well, Stars '66.
Rose and Pepito were built up as a loveteam, gaining a big following. But another actor who came a few years later, Ricky Belmonte, became an even more popular partner--on and offcam. Unfortunately, showbiz marriages don't always end up happily. Rose and Ricky divorced after more than 10 years and three children; Renzo, Sheryl, and Patrick. Rose has remarried in California, while Ricky remains here, acting on TV and the big screen every now and then.
Of the Stars '66 batch, three have passed away: Dindo, Edgar and Loretta. Rose, Shirley, Bert and Blanca are based in the US. Ramil and Gina are still active in showbiz. Pepito is full-time businessman.
