MINT College issues iPad2 to students
MANILA, Philippines - Meridian International (MINT) Business, Arts and Technology College in Fort Bonifacio, Taguig City recently issued Apple iPad2 tablets to all its first year students as part of the school’s overall philosophy of transforming the educational experience to fit the needs of the 21st century.
“The iPad2 will allow students direct access to lesson plans for all their coursework at MINT,” states Bal Endriga, MINT College president and CEO. “They will be able to view teacher presentations and required ebook readings, submit assignments, collaborate with their classmates and teachers, do online research, blog reports and even take exams all from the convenience of this breakthrough device.”
Endriga adds that the MINT educational system is also beneficial to their faculty. “Our teachers can provide their entire lesson plan online, substantially reducing the amount of administrative work, which means more time to focus on each student’s educational needs. Not having to spend too much time with printing, distributing and even grading is a huge benefit to the teacher and student.”
He also stated that less paperwork, means less waste, bolstering MINT College’s commitment to social responsibility and the environment.
Technology will also play a key role in the delivery of quality education to the underprivileged. MINT has recently formed a strategic alliance with Gawad Kalinga (GK), and will soon be piloting distance education to the GK Enchanted Farm in Bulacan as well as another site in Iloilo.
MINT College is the only school in the country to equip each student with an iPad2 device at no charge.
