TEAM to provide vitamins, meds to enforcers

Christell Fatima M. Tudtud - The Freeman

CEBU, Philippines — The Traffic Enforcement Agency of Mandaue (TEAM) plans to provide medicines for its traffic personnel in order to boost their immune system, especially those traffic enforcers attending the traffic flow under the scorching heat of the sun.

Glenn Antigua, chief of operations of TEAM, said they will be coordinating with the City Health Office in implementing the project.

"Mo-coordinate sad ta sa City Health Office ana, as to the vitamins sa atong personnel. Gikinahanglan na, especially (bisan) vitamin C lang," Antigua said.

Apart from vitamins, TEAM also plans to purchase 250 pieces of water backpacks for the traffic enforcers, a new way to keep them hydrated while on duty.

"Makatabang sad sa atong mga enforcers labi na karon, sa sitwasyon karon nga init kaayos tanan," he said.

The traffic enforcers work around eight hours a day. They have two shifts from 6 a.m. to 2 p.m. and 2 p.m. to 10 p.m.

Antigua said the purchase for water backpacks will come from their agency's budget. One water backpack costs around P1,800.

Antigua hopes the vitamins will be distributed by next year, while the water backpacks will be anytime this year.

Before, the Mandaue City government has provided water bottles for the traffic personnel to ensure they are hydrated during hot season especially at noontime or mid-afternoon.

These water bottles, which came from designated water stations, were distributed by every team leader to the traffic personnel.

Antigua said he always tells his personnel to stay under shady areas to protect them from the sun's heat as well as to keep their water bottles full.

"Gi-advisan nato sila nga puwede sila magpadaplin, ayaw lang gyud nga magtago, visible gihapon sila sa mga tawo," Antigua said. (FREEMAN)
