When anxiety attacks
I'm not at all the happiest person in the world. Others may think my disposition is always in an elated state but deep inside there is something else tugging at my heart and soul. I guess everyone has their own share of depression and sadness. Whether or not it has been diagnosed by a professional, the fact stands that we go through the motions once in a while and it is perfectly normal.
This week a very concerned husband sought help from social media in search of his lawyer wife who did not come home. Their last form of communication was an eerie text and none of his calls were picked up. Of course, the worst could happen at any point. It was his instinct as a husband and a person who cared to seek the assistance of everybody.
I don't judge him. He did what he should have done. I can only imagine the paranoia in his mind when a loved one did not come home. It's perfectly normal. Just as when anxiety attacks. According to his wife, her work has been getting in the way of having a clear mind. Mental health is no joke. We can't just laugh and make jokes about a person who has gone through a terrible experience which could lead to anxiety.
I've had my own shares as well, growing up. It wasn't easy carrying a burden as a teenager and a young adult. If it weren't for a good support system, only God knows where I could have ended up. It is improper and disrespectful to demean someone who has been going through panic and anxiety attacks. It is not a made up condition. It is very real brought about by the reality of life.
I'm in full support of bills leaning towards mental health. We need to remove the taboo that mental health is useless and unreal. The truth is it could be worse than having issues with your physical health. The mind is very powerful and if it stumbles on your journey, you might be in for a hell of a ride. So, it is best to take care of your mental health. This could be best done by removing things that cause you pain, anxiety, and fear; as well as by taking time to relax and meditate.
The battle to have everyone aware of the importance of mental health has a long way to go, but baby steps will always get us somewhere. I commend celebrities involved in movements to catch attention so the government will make this issue a priority. Everyone needs to be mentally taken care of. You may laugh at the idea but in this world today, we need to keep our sanity or else we may end up doing actions that are unpleasant. The next time anxiety attacks to consume all of us in this generation, I hope we can proudly say that we are strong enough to counter this.
