Woman nabbed over P1.5 million ecstasy tablets
MANILA, Philippines — A woman was arrested by the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) after she claimed a package containing 962 tablets of ecstasy at the Central Mail Exchange Center in Pasay City yesterday.
Monica Santos, allegedly a student, was apprehended after she claimed the parcel sent to her from the Netherlands by Samson Santos on March 19.
The package – declared as containing a photo album – contained ecstasy tablets weighing 1.3 kilos, officials said.
The Bureau of Customs flagged the package when a cargo X-ray screening machine showed that it contained an organic substance on April 5.
A K-9 unit from the PDEA indicated the presence of a dangerous drug in the package.
Santos, currently under the custody of the PDEA-National Capital Region, faces charges of importation of dangerous drugs. –With Rudy Santos
