CPADAO gives cash to top police stations

CEBU, Philippines — Eight police stations from the Cebu Provincial Police Office (CPPO) received cash incentives yesterday from the Cebu Provincial Anti-Drug Office (CPADAO) for their exemplary efforts in anti-illegal drug operations for 2016.

The station awardees include the police stations from the cities of Danao and Naga, and the municipalities of Pinamungajan, San Fernando, San Remigio, Balamban, Samboan, and Ginatilan.

CPADAO Chief Ivy Durano-Mecca said that the qualification for the cash incentives includes the drug operations conducted, quantity of shabu hauled and the arrested suspects if they are under the station’s watch lists.

Danao City police topped the awardees with a total of 211.6 grams of shabu hauled and 12 listed drug personalities. Pinamungajan followed with 26.25 grams of seized shabu and arrested one drug personality.

Naga police recovered 22.03 grams and arrested three suspects; San Fernando Police with 10.18 grams of shabu confiscated and arrested three suspects; San Remigio police got a total of 6.19 grams and arrested two drug personalities; Balamban police with 5.58 grams and apprehended one suspect; and Samboan police with 0.06 grams and arrested two suspects.

CPPO Director Edgar Alan Okubo said that the recognition can boost the morale of his policemen.

Meanwhile, Police Chief Inspector Gerard Ace Pelare, former chief of Danao Cty Police Station, said that they were glad that the government recognized their efforts specifically in their campaign against illegal drugs.

He reiterated that with or without the cash rewards they would still do their best to eradicate illegal drugs in the community.

“Bisan pa sa financial aid, wala man ni nagpasabot nga ang atong mga police kwarta ra ang giapas. Of course, sa start sa among trabaho wa man gyud mi naghuna-huna asking something in return regardless kung naa or wala.  We remain committed sa among job to eradicate the illegal drugs. Bonus na lang ni,” said Pelare.

A total of P630,000 were given by the CPADAO to at least 85 police personnel of the Drug Enforcement Unit of the eight stations yesterday, according to Meca.

Meca added that there are still awardees for the second batch which will have more awardees.  The next batch would cover the whole year of 2017. (FREEMAN)
