Convenient Healthcare for the Community

Dezsa C. Rubio - The Freeman

CEBU, Philippines — Clinics have long served as an essential safety-net healthcare for vulnerable communities and those who do not have direct access to hospitals. Often, primary health care clinics attend to local patients by extending professional medical care before transferring them to a more advanced hospital.

Understanding the role of clinics in the community, entrepreneur and owner of La NuevaSupermart, Mr. Robinson Uy, decided to establish the first-ever La Nueva Clinic in one of the city’s busiest barangays, Labangon. The new clinic complements the La Nueva Pharmacy in the same barangay. In fact, the clinic is in the same building where the pharmacy is, right along the main road of Tisa, Labangon.

The clinic has four consultation rooms, each manned by a doctor ensuring that patients avail of consultation and get proper medical attention. The doctors team consists of two doctors who specialize in General Internal Medicine:Dr. Carmela Roseanne A. Remotigue, M.D., FPCP and Dr. Shayne Julieane L. Morales M.D., DPCP; and two doctors in Pediatrics: Dr. Ivan James Quial and Dr. Francisco Emilio Remotigue Jr. who also specializes in Cardiology.

The clinic-and-pharmacy setup in one building is convenient to customers of both La Nueva Pharmacy and La Nueva Clinic. Consultation and medicines are available in just one stop.

Mr. Uy plans to put up a laboratory on the available floor above the clinic, to make it a real a one-stop-shop destination for healthcare customers. La Nueva clinic is open for consultation from 5 to 8 p.m., Mondays to Fridays. For May, the clinic is offering circumcision operation at an affordable rate.
