Mall owners face fines over colorum PUVs
MANILA, Philippines — Mall operators will be held accountable if they allow unregistered or colorum public utility vehicles (PUVs) to operate in their respective terminals, the Inter-agency Council on Traffic (IACT) said yesterday.
“We need to remind the mall operators of their responsibility not to allow colorum vehicles in their terminals, otherwise, they will be made answerable for this,” Transportation Undersecretary for road transport and IACT head Tim Orbos said.
Under the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) Memorandum Circular Number 2017-030, terminal operators will be fined P50,000 for each unregistered jeepney operating at the terminal, P120,000 for each taxi, P200,000 for each UV Express van and P1 million for each bus.
Orbos said that they will be compelled to penalize mall owners found guilty of allowing the operation of unregistered PUVs.
Orbos said that he is set to meet with mall operators today along with LTFRB chairman Martin Delgra to address the issue of colorum PUVs.
