Olivarez College, TIP score in NCRAA
MANILA, Philippines — Olivarez College and Technological Institute of the Philippines kept their winning ways, beating St. Francis of Assisi College, 60-54, and University of Luzon, 62-52, respectively, in the Sta. Lucia Land-NCRAA men’s basketball tournament at the TIP gym recently.
New Era University also hogged the spotlight as it stunned last season’s runner-up De Ocampo Memorial College, 73-71, to barge into the win column.
Trailing by five entering the last two-minute mark, the NEU Hunters unleashed a 7-0 run behind Jeff Comia and Richard Velchez to complete the come-from-behind victory.
Comia finished with 25 points and seven assists while Velchez turned in a double-double of 14 points and 12 boards to go with four blocks.
The Olivarez College Sea Lions, meanwhile, held off the SFAC side to nail their second straight win and join the TIP 5 in the Group A lead.
Jayboy Solis came up with 18 points and drew a solid backup from John Uduba, who finished with 10 points on a five-of-five clip, and 10 rebounds.
PSBA dumped Asian Institute of Maritime Studies, 86-66, in the other contest.
