Ex-cop nabbed for firing gun on Christmas Day
CEBU, Philippines — A 58-year-old retired policeman was arrested for indiscriminately firing a gun at around 4 p.m. Monday in Lower RD PC Hills, Apas Cebu City.
Suspect Naltazar Panuil, 58, allegedly fired his gun once. An active policeman called up Mabolo Police Station to report what Panuil did.
Elements of Mabolo Police Station, Mobile Patrol Group and the Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) went to the area to arrest Panuil.
He did not resist and he also surrendered his .45 caliber pistol with four ammunition.
When asked if his gun is licensed, he showed and expired firearm license card.
Chief Insp. Clark Arriola, chief of Mabolo police station, said a medical test showed that Panuil was intoxicated during the incident.
Panuil was brought to Mabolo police station and will be facing three complaints for illegal discharge of firearms, violation of RA 10591 or the Comprehensive Firearm Regulation and Ammunition Act and violation of City Ordinance 1929 for causing trouble while drunk.
PC Hills is a compound for police officials assigned in Police Regional Office (PRO)-7.
Arriola clarified that the place where Paunil is residing is already a residential area and does not belong to the PNP. (FREEMAN)
