Cebu City Olympics opens November 20

CEBU, Philippines — Close to 3,000 athletes from different schools in Cebu City will converge in the 27th edition of the Cebu City Olympics, which will kick off on November 20 at the Cebu City Sports Center

Newly appointed Cebu City Sports Division Coordinator Francis Ramirez said that its all systems go as they are done with all the preparations for the annual multi-sporting event.

Cebu City Olympics is the selection process for the city’s representative for the 2018 Central Visayas Regional Athletic Association (CVIRAA) Meet slated on February in Bohol.

“The competition is getting tougher that is why we need to be serious in the selection process,” said Ramirez in a press conference yesterday at the DepEd Cebu City Division office.

For his part, Cebu City Schools Division Superintendent Bianito A. Dagatan said that the goal of the event is to promote values through sports and at the same time produce athletes that are globally competitive.

Sporting events are featured in this year's competition that includes arnis, billiard, chess, dancesport, , gymnastics, karatedo, scrabble, taekwondo, wrestling, wushu, athletics, badminton, boxing, football, sepak takraw, swimming, basketball, futsal, tennis, table tennis, aero-gymnastics and 3X3 basketball.
