922 grams of shabu seized at NAIA

Rudy Santos - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines — The Bureau of Customs (BOC) seized 922 grams of shabu hidden in a guitar amplifier at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) yesterday.

BOC personnel and members of the NAIA Drug Interdiction Task Group found the parcel at the FedEx warehouse. The intended recipient is Jerry Yu of Banktown in Sydney, Australia, said BOC-NAIA district collector Ed Macabeo and deputy collector for operations Ramon Anquilan.

The pack of shabu was detected when the parcel passed through an X-ray machine.

Authorities are searching for the sender, whom they did not identify. The shabu was turned over to the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency.
