LPA spotted off Eastern Samar
MANILA, Philippines - The low-pressure area off Masbate dissipated, but another weather disturbance off Eastern Samar can bring rains in parts of the country in the next few days.
Samuel Duran, weather forecaster at the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration, said another low-pressure area was spotted 425 kilometers east of Guiuan, Eastern Samar at around 9 a.m. yesterday.
Duran said the weather condition is expected to develop into a tropical depression in the next 24 to 48 hours. Cloudy skies with light to moderate rains and thunderstorms can be expected over the Eastern Visayas and Caraga regions.
The low-pressure area is enhancing the southwest monsoon, which brings rains over the western section of Luzon and the Visayas.
Duran said Metro Manila would experience light to moderate rains and thunderstorms until tomorrow due to the enhanced southwest monsoon.
The coastal waters of western Luzon and the eastern section of the Visayas and Mindanao will be moderate to occasionally rough due to the southwest monsoon and the approaching disturbance, respectively.
