3:15 p.m. – San Beda vs Letran
5 p.m. – Ateneo vs La Salle
MANILA, Philippines - San Beda seeks a spot in the quarterfinals as it tackles an already-ran Letran even as archrivals La Salle and Ateneo collide today in the Filoil Flying V Premier Cup at the Filoil Flying V Center in San Juan.
The Lions destroyed the toothless Santo Tomas Tigers, 86-59, last week to remain the league’s only unbeaten team with five wins and another victory in their 3:15 duel with the Knights, who are already out of it with a 1-6 (win-loss) card, would seal it a place in the quarters.
There, the reigning NCAA champion will join Far Eastern U (6-1), San Sebastian (6-1) and Adamson (6-2).
“The initial goal is to make the next round first, unbeaten or not,” said San Beda coach Boyet Fernandez.
The Archers, for their part, are currently at No. 4 in Group A with a 4-2 mark after trouncing the University of the East Warriors, 77-71, also last week while the Eagles have split their first four outings to remain behind the former at No. 5 with a 2-2 mark.
National U faces an eliminated St. Benilde. with an eye of booking the fourth and last quarter spot in Group B.
University of the Philippines is currently holding the No. 4 spot with a 4-2 slate and NU, which owns a 3-3 record, could inch closer if it could hurdle St. Benilde.
