Responders stop Kamao, nail first UNTV Cup plum
MANILA, Philippines - Philippine National Police pulled away in the third quarter then held on to fashion out a 68-55 victory over Malacañang and nail its first UNTV Cup crown before a big crowd at the Smart Araneta Coliseum last Tuesday.
With Gen. Ronald “Bato” dela Rosa in the crowd, the Responders came through with a decisive run late in the third to rip the game open then quashed the Kamao’s rally to finally score a breakthrough after three failed tries.
“Finally, we won the UNTV Cup, but I hope this won’t be the last,” said the PNP chief who likewise thanked UNTV president and CEO Daniel Razon for the network’s continued support to the UNTV.
The P4 million top prize, Dela Rosa said, will benefit the Police Community Relations Group “Drug Rehabilitation Program”.
On the other hand, the P2 million received by the Kamao will go to the Philippine Children’s Medical Center.
