Bato berates Pampanga cops in alleged Korean extortion

MANILA, Philippines — An irate Philippine National Police Chief Ronald “Bato” Dela Rosa on Wednesday faced seven Pampanga cops accused in robbery-extortion of three Korean nationals.

Dela Rosa could not contain his disappointment while cursing low ranking officials of Angeles City Police Office at Camp Tomas Pepito in Barangay Sto. Domingo.

“Legitimate? Bakit ninyo pinera? Bakit ninyo binugbog? Anong klaseng legimitate operation ‘yan,” Dela Rosa said while reprimanding the cops.

"Buong Pilipinas, presidente mismo ang namomroblema sa ginawa ninyo, aabot pa sa taas dahil foreigner ang biniktima ninyo. Pang ilan na kaya ‘yan na ginawa ninyo,” he added.

The police officers were identified as PO3 Arnold Nagayo, PO3 Roentjen Domingo, PO2 Richard King Agapito, PO2 Ruben Rodriguez, PO3 Gomerson Evangelista, PO1 Jayson Ibe and PO1 Mark Joseph Pineda.

The PNP chief was fuming over the alleged robbery and extortion of Angeles City cops in December 2016 where golf clubs, jewelry, shoes and cash amounting to P450,000 were taken from the victims who were only on a vacation.

Two of the victims, Park Min Hoon and Lee Ki Hoon, have filed their affidavits last month.

The incident was revealed by Dela Rosa at a press conference last month, during the height of the kidnap-slay case of another Korean and a businessman Jee Ick-joo.
