Cebu City sinulog 2017 launching: Rerouting in most streets tomorrow
CEBU, Philippines - Expect heavy traffic as rerouting would be implemented in certain streets of Cebu City for the Sinulog launching parade at 2 p.m. tomorrow.
The parade will start from the Basilica del Santo Niño, passing through Osmeña Boulevard, around the Fuente Osmeña rotunda, and to the opposite lane of Osmeña Boulevard and then to the Cebu City Sports Center, passing through the gate between Cebu City Central School and Abellana National High School.
Because of this Public Utility Jeepneys coming from the Capitol and Lahug areas passing through Osmeña Boulevard must turn right to B. Rodriguez Street, left to V. Rama Avenue, proceed to V. Rama Extension, then to their respective destinations.
PUJs from the Carbon Public Market area, on the other hand, must turn left to F. Gonzales Street, left to Magallanes Street, right to Borromeo Street, left to Sanciangko Street, right to Panganiban Street, left to N. Bacalso Avenue, right to V. Rama Avenue, then to their destination.
For those coming from Banawa and Guadalupe, they must follow V. Rama Avenue right turn to Katipunan Street, left turn to A. Lopez Street, straight to Tres de Abril Street, right to Carlock Street, left to Tupas Street, straight to Magallanes Street, then to the Carbon Public Market area.
PUJs coming from Lahug passing through General Maxilom Avenue, on the other hand, should proceed to F. Ramos Street, right turn to Junquera Street, left to Colon Street, left turn to D. Jakosalem Street, then back to their origin.
PUJs with route no. 14D (passing through the Capitol for Ayala) shall follow N. Escario Street, left turn to Juana Osmeña Street, right to General Maxilom Avenue, left to F. Ramos Street, to Junquera Street, left to Colon Street, right to Mabini Street right to V. Gullas Street, right to Legaspi Street, straight to Pelaez Street, right to P. Del Rosario Street, left to D. Jakosalem Street, left to Echavez Extension, right turn to F. Ramos Street, right turn to Raintree Mall, proceed to Juana Osmeña Street, then to their point of origin.
For those coming from Talamban passing through Junquera and F. Ramos Streets (13B, 62C), they must turn left to Sikatuna Street, straight to Mabini Street, right to V. Gullas Street, right to D. Jakosalem Street, back to their usual route and then to their point of origin. Those passing through Sikatuna Street (13C, 62B), on the other hand, shall turn right to Colon Street, right turn to D. Jakosalem Street, then to their point of origin.
Jeepneys coming from Basak Pardo, and Labangon passing through P. del Rosario Street, they must turn right to V. Rama Extension, left to Tres de Abril Street, left to C. Padilla Street, right to Panganiban Street, left to Magallanes Street, left to Borromeo Street, then to their usual route and back to their point of origin.
For those PUJs from Inayawan, Basak, Pardo, and Labangon passing through Colon Street, they should turn right to Leon Kilat Street, right to Magallanes Street, then back to their point of origin.
Meanwhile, those coming from the south passing through Colon Street bound for SM City Cebu, White Gold, and the North Bus Terminal, they should turn right to V. Rama Extension, left to Tres de Abril Street, right to Lakandula Street, left to C. Padilla Street, right to Panganiban Street, left to Magallanes Street, right to Plaridel Street, left to Lincoln Street, right to F. Gonzales Street, then to M.C. Briones Street, left to M.J. Cuenco Avenue, right to V. Sotto Street, left to Serging Osmeña Boulevard, then to their destination.
For those coming from SM and North Bus Terminal, they must turn left to General Maxilom Avenue, right turn to Juana Osmeña Street, left turn J. Llorente Street, left turn to C. Rodriguez Street, right turn to B. Rodriguez Street, left turn V. Rama Avenue, right turn to N. Bacalso Avenue, then back to their point of origin.
PUJs from Urgello Street and the University of San Carlos Girls High area should proceed to Leon Kilat Street, right to Sanciangko Street, left to Panganiban Street, left to Colon Street, right to Leon Kilat Street, left to Magallanes Street, right to Manalili Street, left to J. For those coming from the pier area, SM, and North Bus Terminal, they are required to proceed to M.J. Cuenco Avenue, right to Magallanes Street, to M.C. Briones Street, right to D. Jakosalem Street, left to Magallanes Street, to Borromeo Street, left to Sanciangko Street, left to N. Bacalso Avenue, right to V. Rama Avenue, right to Alcantara Street, then to their point of origin.
PUJs from Mabolo passing through General Maxilom Avenue should turn left to F. Ramos Street, right to Junquera Street, left to Colon Street, left to Mabini Street, right to Zulueta Street, left to M.J. Cuenco Avenue, and back to to their usual route, then to their point of origin.
Jeepneys from Mabolo passing through V. Gullas Street shall turn right to Legaspi Street, right to Colon Street, left to Mabini Street, right to Zulueta Street, left to M.J. Cuenco Avenue, then to their point of origin.
In addition, PUJs from Mandaue City passing through V. Gullas Street shall turn left to P. Burgos Street, left to Jereza Street, left to M.J. Cuenco Avenue, then to their usual route and back to their point of origin.
The Cebu City Traffic Office advised the motorist, drivers, and other road users to follow the traffic signs at strategic locations in the streets to minimize traffic congestion.
CCTO Operations Chief Francisco Ouano said they would at least 80 traffic enforcers to monitor the said streets.
"Gisiguro gyud nga kada iskina, ato gyung gibutangan. Ang uban, adto na sa gawas nga area kay kahibawo man gyud ta nga maka-cause og traffic. Maong giawhag pud nato ang atong publiko nga tas-an ang atong pasensya kay sa Pista Senyor ni siya," he said.
"Di ta magpainit-init sa ulo nato. Ang ato lang kay itarong nato og parking ang atong sakyanan aron dili ta maka-cause og traffic sa uban," he told reporters yesterday. —/ RHM (FREEMAN)
