Almost P300T shabu seized in Lapu-Lapu

CEBU, Philippines - Close to P300,000 worth of suspected shabu was seized from seven persons in separate buy-bust operations in three barangays in Lapu-Lapu City within two days.

In Sitio Acacia, Barangay Bankal, partners Wilson Fabrido, 33, and Mercedes Godinez, 53, were arrested around 2:50 p.m. yesterday, said Police Officer 1 Jonel Dizon of the Pusok Police Station.

Police confiscated 44 small suspected shabu from Fabrido and another 136 small packs from Godinez, as well as assorted drug paraphernalia, all amounting to around P84,960.

Dizon said the two, who were newly-identified drug personalities, were both the subjects of the buy-bust operation.

In a separate operation, the Lapu-Lapu City Police Office-City Intelligence Branch also apprehended three men in Sitio Saac 1, Barangay Buaya around 2:55 a.m. yesterday.   Police Chief Inspector Mark Gifter Sucalit, officer-in-charge of LCPO-CIB, said they arrested Angelito Galon, 43, the subject of the operation, and his companions Jayson Icoy, 26, and Ian Natingga, 22.

According to police surveillance, Galon was a drug surrenderer and was under the watch list of the Mactan Police Station.  

Seized from Icoy were nine small sachets of shabu, while two other small packs were recovered from Natingga. Sucalit said the seized shabu has an estimate value of P185,024.

Last Sunday, Jemar Dihayco, 21, and his alleged cohort John Carlo Booc, 19, were also arrested in Sitio Ka-konsor, Barangay Mactan around 1:15 p.m., Sucalit added.

Apprehended from Dihayco, the operation's main-subject, were 51 small sachets of suspected shabu and alleged proceeds worth P800 while another 12 small sachets were seized from Booc. Shabu seized from the two has an estimated value of P29, 736.

The drugs seized during the three operations have a total estimated worth of P299,720.

In just four days, the Cebu City Police Office arrested 23 individuals in drug-related operations.

From September 1 to 4, the CCPO carried out eight buy-bust operations and nine drug patrols, which resulted to the arrest of the 23 alleged drug personalities.

In all operations, 52  small packs and three medium packs of suspected shabu were seized, which has an estimated worth of around P23,000. (FREEMAN)
