Racal tries to boost bid against Blustar
MANILA, Philippines - Racal steps up its drive for one of the top two spots as it faces lowly Blustar Detergent today even as Tanduay tangles with winless Topstar ZC Mindanao in the PBA D-League Foundation Cup at the Ynares Sports Arena in Pasig today.
The Tile Masters easily dispatched the Dragons, 122-60, in their first round meeting last June 21 with the former heavily favored to score a repeat in the 6 p.m. encounter and hike their record to 7-2.
Phoenix shows the way with a 7-1 card while Café France is a rung behind at 6-1.
“We know we have to be in the top two to get an advantage and the players know our situation,” said Racal coach Caloy Garcia.
Garcia points out to the twice-to-beat incentive awaiting the top two teams in the semifinals.
“We can’t let others control our destiny so we just have to win as much games as we can,” said Garcia.
Still, Garcia remains wary of the Dragons.
“They’re also playing well. I think after we beat them by 62, they beat Mindanao. So we know we can’t be complacent,” added Garcia.
