Remollo spends P273k in election
CEBU, Philippines - Dumaguete City Mayor-elect Felipe Antonio "Ipe" Remollo disclosed that he spent P273,356.75 in the May 9 elections, as shown in his Statement of Contributions and Expenditures (SOCE) filed at the city Comelec office.
City election officer Andrei Villasis said the law on campaign expenses allows each local candidate to spend P3 for each voter and P5 while under a political party. Remollo's declared expenses were way below the limit, he said.
Remollo's closest rival Vice Mayor Woodrow Maquling Sr., submitted an election expense of P100,324.16 only, almost the same amount with that of a candidate who is running for city councilor.
The other mayoralty candidates, Quinex Ramirez showed he spent P28,622.50, while Dindo Generoso only spent P6,145.
Among the three vice mayoralty candidates, Councilor Franklin Esmeña III submitted a SOCE of P64,232.41 while his closest rival Councilor Antonio Remollo spent P27,720 and the third bet, Nelson Layague, spent P7,640.
Among the candidates for city councilor, re-elected Councilor Lilani Ramon posted the highest in election contribution and expenses at P94,000, while independent bet Virgilio Zerna had the lowest at P480. (FREEMAN)
