HK-based e-vehicle maker enters Philippine market
MANILA, Philippines - Hong Kong-based electric vehicle developer Kyto Green Technologies Co. Ltd. is making its foray into the Philippine market with the introduction of a three-seater electric tricycle which it hopes to market to several local government units (LGUs) in the country.
“We are very excited to show these products to the different LGUs in the Philippines and that is what we will be doing for the next few months,” Kyto managing director Grayson Richards said.
Richards said Kyto has designed and developed a cost-effective electric tricycle solution that is suitable for Philippine roads, climate, and terrain.
Aside from the introduction of a three-seater electric tricycle, Kyto also intends to bring into the country new e-mobility technology and electric vehicle products to make its cities cleaner and safer, he said.
Kyto was established in 2012 in Hong Kong with the purpose of designing, engineering, and marketing electro mobility for urban transportation worldwide.
Rommel Juan, president of the Electric Vehicle Association of the Philippines, said Kyto is just one of many foreign electric vehicle developers which are eyeing to enter the country’s developing electric vehicle market.
Juan said the entry of foreign technology, advanced designs, and state of the art systems for clean public transport to the country is a clear indication that the Philippines has the critical mass of a large domestic market.
“This can be the platform from which to launch export initiatives in the future, making the country the electric vehicle hub of Asia,” he said.
“Electric vehicle companies from Japan, US, Taiwan and Korea have previously either set up shop in the Philippines or formed a distributorship network as a result of the first four EV Summits. EVAP welcomes more foreign investment and technology transfers. This is the way to go if we want to elevate the domestic electric vehicle industry to the next level,” Juan added.
