The Freeman

CEBU, Philippines - The Metropolitan Cebu Water District clarified yesterday that it has not resorted to water rationing and its sources has enough supply.

MCWD spokesperson Charmaine Rodriguez-Kara said 80 percent of its supply comes from bank water and ground water while 20 percent comes from Jaclupan Dam, which still reportedly supplies 12,000 m3 per day.

Today, several of MCWD’s service areas will be affected by its water service upgrading, which will include the installation of the District Metering Areas (DMA) flow meter of the JICA Supply Improvement Project.

Consumers are advised to store water as the installation will take place from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

The areas that will be affected are Upper and Lower Pagsabungan, Mandaue City from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. and several areas in Barangay Talamban, including Nasipit Road, Highway 77, Cadahuan, Sunny Hills Subdivision, Tac-an, and Talamban Proper from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.

Meanwhile, Cebu City Agriculturist Joelito Baclayon said the city has distributed 10 drums containing 200 liters of water each and 10 water hoses at 300 meters long to farmers association yesterday.

“Ang kaning budget for today’s distribution, una pa ni namo nakuha, P3 million katong budget for last year mild El Niño.
