Man nabbed for driving sans license

CEBU, Philippines - A man was arrested Monday evening in Barangay Gabi, Cordova after he figured in a traffic accident and failed to present a driver’s license.

Florante Cañete bumped a Honda City Sedan while trying to overtake resulting in the damage of the left portion of the vehicle. The owner of the car, Albritz Quiñonez, called for police assistance but Cañete tried to escape upon seeing the police.

A brief chase ensued resulting in the arrest of Cañete. The police demanded for his license but he failed to present. The police also recovered drug paraphernalia in his possession.

Police Officer 2 Noem Rosillosa, desk officer of Cordova Police Station, said the suspect and Quiñonez have agreed to compromise but only as far as the damage to the car.

Rosillosa said the accused will still face criminal complaint for violation of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.— (FREEMAN)
