LTO deputation of cops out, but no TOP available for them

Judy Flores Partlow - The Freeman

DUMAGUETE CITY, Philippines — After a long wait, the Land Transportation Office-Region 7 had finally released the deputation orders for 44 personnel of the Negros Oriental Police Provincial Office.

Senior Superintendent Dionard Carlos, OIC director of NOrPPO, announced this during the recent regular monthly meeting of the Police Provincial Advisory Council, chaired by Governor Roel Degamo.

Carlos told the PAC that only 44 of the 100 policemen from the province that attended the LTO deputation seminar and later applied for deputation last July had completed the requirements set by the transportation agency.

Carlos however lamented that despite the LTO deputation of several policemen, the agency has not enough temporary operator’s permit, or TOP, available for them to use in citing traffic violators.

The TOP is a citation document issued by LTO and its deputized agents against motorists who violate traffic laws.

Carlos’ concern was that the validity of the deputation of his men is only up to December 15, this year.

Meanwhile, Alberta Janine Lawas, of the LTO in Bayawan City, said her office was able to issue TOP forms to the deputized policemen within her jurisdiction, from Siaton to Basay towns.

The LTO district office or its extension office is the one that issues the TOP’s to the deputized agents within their respective jurisdiction.  (FREEMAN)
