Man nabbed for kin’s slay

KORONADAL CITY, Philippines – A 45-year-old man tagged in the killing of his brother and his wife and wounding two others was arrested in this city on Saturday.

Jose Consumo fled after shooting Romeo Consumo, 36, and his wife Belen, 33, in Barangay Paraiso on Thursday.

The couple’s daughter Ramilyn, 15, and nephew Joselito, 30, were wounded in the attack, city police chief Superintendent Nesthur Salcedo said.

Consumo, who was collared in nearby Purok Mesias, is being held at the city police station detention cell.

The suspect’s wife, Wilma, said her husband had no intention to kill or hurt the victims and was merely defending himself.

Reports said the victims and the suspect were on their way to their farm in Purok Mariveles when a quarrel broke out between the brothers.

Police believe the quarrel could be over the brothers’ share in the farm produce.

Ramilyn appealed to local officials and neighbors to help her bury her parents.
