LTFRB OKs accreditation of Uber
MANILA, Philippines – The Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) on Wednesday approved the accreditation of ridesharing service provider Uber as a Transport Network Company (TNC).
LTFRB released Uber’s Certificate of Accreditation with Accreditation No. 2015-TNC-002 signed by LTFRB Chair Winston Ginez.

The head of the accreditation committee, LTFRB Executive Director Roberto Cabrera, said the accreditation is effective starting Wednesday, August 19.
LTFRB urges Uber partners to file their application for franchise for Transport Network Vehicle Service (TNVS).
“Uber partners may now file their Application for Franchise for TNVS,” LTFRB announced on Twitter.
Uber will then prepare registration of about 5,000 private vehicles providing the ridesharing servce.
The agency earlier granted accreditation to another ridesharing app company, GrabCar. They are still waiting for three other app-based taxi service to apply for accreditation until August 20.
Ginez said after the set deadline, they will start apprehending all app-based transport service who failed to register as a TNC. They will be fined P200,00 and their vehicle will be impounded for about three months.
The LTFRB office said it remains open to accept applications for franchise and accreditation on Wednesday even if it is a local holiday in Quezon City.
Ridesharing app service Uber filed its application on Monday.
